Private 1-2-1 Consultations

Whether you are right at the beginning of your journey or have been living with your IBD for years and feel like you have tried almost everything, we are here to help you.

We provide a professional, evidence-based, compassionate, educational, and positive approach to nutrition to help you optimise your nutritional intake, reduce nutrient deficiencies, include as wide a range of foods as possible, remove fear from food, help you manage your symptoms and ultimately help to improve your quality of life.

We will also be your patient advocate, helping you to understand your condition better and ensuring you are getting the best care. We have partnerships with leading gastroenterologists and IBD specialist psychologists so if you need further support in these areas we know the best people to refer you to.

Our team have IBD too so we have a unique, compassionate understanding of your experience living with a lifelong digestive condition and everything that comes with that.

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS MIGHT YOU SEE WORKING WITH US?

During enquiry calls with any prospective patients, we are often asked what improvements they are likely to see after working with us. As we all know, everyone's experience with IBD is different and every one of our patients will be at a slightly different stage in their journey, so it's hard to give an exact answer.

However, over the years we have used evidence-based tools to track symptom improvement during our patients' journeys with us and these show:

  • By the 1st follow up appointment, patients see an average improvement in symptom scores of nearly 50%

  • By the last appointment, patients see an average improvement in symptom scores of nearly 80%

While we cannot guarantee that this will be the case for all of our patients, we can promise that we will do everything we can to optimise your nutritional intake, improve your symptoms and help to educate and empower you with knowledge about diet and your IBD. This way you will have a much greater understanding and confidence in what you are doing dietary wise to support yourself longer term.

01. STARTER sessions package

  • 2 hours of appointment time - usually split either as a 60 minute initial and 2x 30 minute follow ups, or a 90 minute initial and 1x 30 minute follow up appointment (we will guide you during your enquiry call as to which we think would be best suited to you).

  • Case analysis and health assessment from health questionnaire and food diary you submit ahead of our first appointment and from our first appointment.

  • Personalised nutrition and supplement (if appropriate) plan after each appointment.

  • Support between appointments via secure messaging service, if needed.

This option is usually the one we recommend to most new patients to get started. This may be enough for some patients but for anyone who needs more sessions we can add these on, on a session by session basis, after we have finished the 2 hours.

We will ask you to complete a questionnaire ahead of your first appointment which includes your health history, current health status and a week long food and symptom diary. Then you will have your initial appointment. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you and for you to tell us about you and your life. We will talk about your journey so far, your symptoms, and your current diet and lifestyle. We will discuss your goals and what you’d like to achieve from our sessions together. We will also be able to answer any questions you have and clarify anything you are not sure about when it comes to your IBD and your nutrition. We will then go through the dietary and lifestyle adaptions for you to put in place to set you on your way to achieving your goals. We will guide you on what the most appropriate, evidence based, changes would be best for you, but we will also work collaboratively together to ensure any changes are manageable and easiest for you to achieve.

Your follow up appointment will usually be four to six weeks later. During this appointment we will discuss your progress and make any further changes as needed. If we think at this stage you would benefit from more sessions we can discuss this and arrange them.

All appointments are done via online video call (Zoom) so it does not matter where you live - we work with clients in the UK and across the world.

NB: It may be appropriate for you to have some further tests done either before or during our appointments together, for example, blood tests or stool tests. Usually we will be able to get all these through your GP or gastroenterologist on the NHS.

02. support sessions package

  • Three hours of consultations over approximately 12 weeks (via video call) - usually a 90 minute initial appointment and three 30 minute follow up appointments.

  • Case analysis and health assessment

  • Personalised nutrition, lifestyle and supplement (if appropriate) plan after each appointment.

  • Support between appointments via secure messaging service, if needed.

This is the option we may recommend if we know right from the outset that 2 hours just isn’t going to be enough time together. This may be because you are in a flare, are at the beginning of your journey looking at nutrition with you condition, or we know you are going to need longer term support for other reasons.

You will usually have appointments every two to four weeks initially but we will work out what is best for you time wise so you can get the most out of the sessions. We will ask you to complete a questionnaire ahead of our first appointment which includes your health history, current health status and a week long food and symptom diary. You will then have your initial appointment which will be for 90 minutes. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you and for you to tell us about you and your life. We will talk about your journey so far, your symptoms, and your current diet and lifestyle. We will discuss your goals and what you’d like to achieve from our sessions together. We will also be able to answer any questions you have and clarify anything you are not sure about when it comes to your condition and your nutrition. We will then go through the first dietary and lifestyle adaptions for you to put in place to set you on your way to achieving your goals. We will guide you on what the best, evidence based, changes would be for you, but we will also work collaboratively together to ensure any changes are manageable and fit into your lifestyle.

Your follow up appointments will usually be 30 minutes so we will usually have three of these but if we need more time at one or more of the sessions we will just use the time in a manner we feel is most appropriate for you so you can get the most from our sessions together. If you need further support once the 3 hours has been used we can add addition sessions on.
